Capturing the incredible support and community at the Aphasia Cafe Leeds UK
Aphasia Support is a registered charity, founded in Yorkshire that improves the wellbeing of people with aphasia and their carers by providing tailored speech and language therapy and long-term support.
Aphasia support enhances the quality of life for people with aphasia – helping them to regain control, confidence and independence through 1:1 computer therapy focus, 1: 1 supported conversation and Aphasia Cafe group sessions.
I was asked to pop down to the Leeds Aphasia Cafe group session where clients and carers are welcomed to get together, to support each other and build connections – to observe and document the incredible work that they do and help them communicate this to a wider audience across the UK.
It was absolutely incredible listening to everyone share stories, encourage and support each other throughout the session, observing how important community is in improving the lives of those with Aphasia along with their supportive friends and family.
Aphasia Cafe’s are available online and in person across the north of the UK in; Barnsley, Bradford, Blackburn, Calderdate, Doncaster, Harrogate Kirklees, Leeds, Nottingham, Wakefield, and York.
