Corporate photography that feels more relaxed - how it works
Most people I work with aren’t used to being photographed very often, and are sometimes quite nervous on my arrival, which makes complete sense. That’s why I always arrive a little early to have a bit of a chat first and have a look around the space, looking for good light and getting to know you and your business.
One of the most important things to think about is location - you don’t have to stay inside the office for corporate headshots and portraits, in a boardroom, against a plain background.
Depending on the business and location, we might photograph people:
Around the workplace; meeting rooms, stairwells, reception areas, communal spaces…
Outside the building; Main entrance, nearby places of interest or green areas
In workshops, warehouses, factories, sites or studios
In places that feel more connected to the business itself
These kinds of environments can create photographs that feel more honest and bring a little more personality to the story.
In terms of posing, most of the direction I give during the shoot shoots is very minimal.
Nobody really needs to know how to pose perfectly, I will just make sure that staff feel as comfortable as possible by not rushing the process and making little adjustments where required. Easy!
