Brand photography at Swinton Estate, North Yorkshire.

Luxury product and brand photography for a Burberry authentication expert

It was a beautiful summer’s day at the Swinton Estate in North Yorkshire when I met Rachael for her brand photography shoot. If you’ve never visited, it’s well worth it, an incredible private estate on the edge of the Yorkshire Dales – owned by the Cunliffe-Lister family since the 1880s and set within 20,000 acres of stunning landscape.

It was the perfect setting for a luxury brand and product photography shoot. We were looking for a quintessentially English backdrop to create a library of images for Rachael’s business, specialising in authentic Burberry outerwear.

Rachael is a Burberry authentication expert with over 10 years’ experience handling thousands of pieces. She offers advice and expertise to both commercial clients and private individuals, with a particular focus on the post ‘Burberrys’ era – including retail, outlet, runway and prototype garments. Her attention to detail and depth of knowledge are exceptional.

Ahead of the photoshoot, I created a mood board and we visited the Swinton Estate to plan locations. This allowed us to identify a range of backdrops that would reflect both the heritage of the brand and the quality of the garments.

One standout location was a traditional English boot room within the hotel, ideal for displaying coats and accessories in a natural, authentic setting. We also used an elegant room in the castle with large windows overlooking the front lawn. The original fireplace provided a strong visual anchor for styling clothing rails and documenting elements of the authentication process.

Outside, the walled gardens offered a softer, seasonal contrast, with floral backdrops that complemented the collection and added variety to the final set of images.
