Candid, relaxed brand photography for speakers – photographing Lisa Bean live at Leeds Beckett University.
I was recently commissioned to photograph motivational speaker and business coach Lisa Bean’s live show ‘Laugh or you’ll cry’ at Leeds Beckett University, inside The Knowledge Exchange.
This wasn’t your typical business talk. It was a hilarious, stand-up comedy esque show for entrepreneurs – funny, honest, and genuinely informative all at the same time. A very real look at what running a business actually involves behind the scenes.
Lisa’s mix of experience, storytelling, and straight-talking insight (along with her extensive knowledge of the full range of M&S knickers available) was second to none!

Photographing a live show
Photographing something like this for me is mostly about paying attention. There’s no directing, no stopping and starting, I’m just watching for small shifts in expression, timing, and delivery. The focus here was very much on Lisa, her energy, delivery, and how she holds the room as she shifts from hilarity to something a litle more serious, I think you can see from the images how her infectious personality really shines through on stage.
Why photography for speakers matters
For speakers and coaches, images like these can do a lot of work for your brand. We’re not just documenting that an event happened, we’re showing how it really felt to be there, how you communicate on stage, hold the room, the energy, the flow and the atmosphere you create which gives your audience a great understanding about what they can expect from your event.
