Visual content photography for a coach in Derbyshire
Personal brand photography: Case Study with ProAge Coach
It was a glorious English summer’s day for this personal brand photoshoot with Jackie Clarke of ProAge Coach. Jackie is an accredited Executive and Lifestyle Coach dedicated to creating a supportive space for people experiencing one of life’s most profound transitions.
We spoke on the phone a few times before the shoot, created a visual reference board and planned an afternoon together to capture a library of natural visual content photography that Jackie could use across her website, social media and marketing.
Personal brand and visual content photography is about creating authentic images that reflect how someone works and the atmosphere they create for their clients. Rather than relying on a handful of formal portraits, the aim is to produce a varied gallery of images that can support a personal brand across multiple platforms.
To settle into the session we started slowly. We sat down in the kitchen for a coffee and decided to take the dog for a walk first. This helped Jackie relax and get comfortable being photographed before we moved indoors to create some natural, documentary-style portraits.
What is visual content photography compared to traditional corporate photography?
Visual content photography focuses on creating a library of natural, storytelling images that a business can use across its website, social media and marketing. For personal brands such as coaches, therapists and consultants, these photographs often form the foundation of their online presence.
Rather than staged corporate headshots, the aim is to create authentic images that offer a behind-the-scenes insight into how someone works; interacting with clients, sharing expertise and documenting the processes that shape their business.
This kind of storytelling brand photography gives clients a carefully curated gallery of images that can be used across multiple marketing channels. From website pages and blog posts to Instagram and newsletters, the images help tell the story of a brand in a natural and consistent way.

Here’s a few images from our day in the glorious sunshine:
Planning a personal brand photography session
A successful personal brand photography session begins well before the camera comes out. The aim is to create a set of images that feel authentic and genuinely reflect how someone works, rather than simply turning up and taking a few portraits.
Before the shoot Jackie and I spoke a few times to discuss her coaching practice, the type of clients she works with and how she wanted her brand to feel visually. We created a simple visual reference board to explore ideas for locations, activities, colours and the kind of feeling we wanted the photographs to convey.
Planning like this helps shape a visual content photography session that feels natural and purposeful. Instead of thinking about individual shots, we think about creating a library of images that can be used across different platforms – from website pages and blog posts to social media and newsletters.
We also discussed the kinds of everyday moments that would best represent her work. For a coach this might include walking and talking with a client, preparing notes, making tea before a session, cooking or simply spending time outdoors reflecting. These small, natural moments often create the most engaging personal brand images because they show the person behind the business.
On the day of the shoot we kept things relaxed and flexible, allowing the session to unfold naturally while capturing a variety of scenes and environments. This approach resulted in a diverse collection of photographs that can be used throughout the year to tell the story of her brand.
